Utah Beach & Sainte-Mère-Église Private Tour
Explore the western American D-Day sector, combining the story of the troops landing from the sea at Utah Beach with the airborne operations around Sainte-Mère-Église.
This private tour is ideal for visitors particularly interested in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions and the American operations on the Cotentin Peninsula.

Utah Beach
Walk along the shoreline where American forces landed on June 6, 1944.
Unlike the cliffs surrounding parts of Omaha Beach, the landscape around Utah is characterised by beaches, dunes and low-lying marshland crossed by strategic causeways.
These routes were essential for troops moving inland after landing.
The Utah Beach Landing Museum can also be incorporated into the itinerary.

Sainte-Mère-Église
A short journey inland brings you to Sainte-Mère-Église.
During the night preceding the landings, American airborne troops were dropped across this area to secure strategic roads and prevent German reinforcements from reaching Utah Beach.
The church and central square are today closely associated with the story of paratrooper John Steele.
The nearby Airborne Museum focuses on the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions.
Follow the Airborne Story
Depending on the time available and your historical interests, the itinerary can include additional sites connected with the American airborne operations.
Travellers with a family connection or a particular regiment in mind should tell us before the tour so the itinerary can be adapted.
Half Day or Full Day?
Utah Beach and Sainte-Mère-Église can form a focused tour.
For visitors wanting the complete American D-Day story, we recommend extending the day to include:
Pointe du Hoc → Omaha Beach → Normandy American Cemetery
This creates a full American-sector itinerary from west to east.
The complete west-to-east itinerary is described on our American D-Day Private Tour Normandy page, and the eastern half alone on our Omaha Beach Private Tour.
